An announcer at NBC since 1944 8), voice over master Don Pardo turned 90 years old over the weekend! And he’s still going strong.

I’d like to ask all my voice over peers and friends to offer your birthday wishes to Don in the comments section.

Then say a prayer that we can all be performing with such talent and energy when we turn 90!

  10. Way to go, Don. I’m sure we’ll see you celebrate a century.
I want to be you when I grow up, but I’m having trouble growing up. I’m just 62.

I hope I look (and sound) as fantastic when I am 90.

  12. Happy Birthday, Don! You’re truly one of the great announcers in TV history. Besides, how many 90-year-olds are in the credits of a Frank Zappa album? 🙂

    All the best!

  17. Don,

See, my desire to be in this business began with an aspiration to be a game show host… then, I truly wanted to be the off-camera announcer for game shows. It was great voiceover talent like you that put that bee in my bonnet. And, for that, I sincerely thank you.

I wish you a very happy 90th birthday. Oh yeah, since I just discovered we’re neighbors, may I buy you a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you so desire)?

  18. Happy Birthday to a voice that will stay with us always! As Bettye said – those of us with 30+ years under our belts as voiceover folk still look to you as the original!

  19. Happy 90th, Don! You ARE the standard in the genre… Hope this year is one filled with blessings!

  20. Thanks so much Peter for reminding us of a great day in the VO Industry!!

  21. Happy Birthday Don!!

    May there be many more.

  22. Don,

You don’t know me but you certainly have inspired me. Your magnificent voice has been ringing in my ears since the days when you would announce to Bill Cullen, and the rest of us, the “actual retail price” on the original “Price is Right.”

Whether it was that, or “Saturday Night Live,” or anything in between, the one constant has always been that little something in your delivery that spoke to me and made me think that doing voice overs was probably a fun way to make a living.

I hope that when I’m 68 years old I’ll be sending you a message of congratulations on your 100th birthday — and that you’ll still be not only doing voice overs, but still being the best at it.

  23. Happy Birthday Mr. Pardo!

  24. Happy birthday from the Great White North from a fellow Pisces! Congratulations!

  25. Happy Birthday, Don. It’s been a long time since you announced The Three Suns coming from The Picadilly Circus Lounge in NYC, huh?

BTW, can you send me the jobs that you turn down?

PS – I don’t sound like you. Not even close. Then again, nobody does, right?
