spraying manure with lysol

You’ll recall with some humor I hope (or lots of humor in my mind) the hubbub about the 2012 Olympics in London and how everyone hated their logo. Maybe not everyone, one assumes the designer thought the logo to be nifty so I shan’t generalize.

Well come to find out last June (yes it escaped my radar back then) the London organizers refreshed their brand’s logo a tad.

The outline of the logo mark remains the same (to my mind it’s primary design failing) but the coloring is made up primarily of the colors and shapes of Britain’s Union Jack flag (a flag I’ve always admired, by the way).

But my goodness, if you paint an outhouse a different color, isn’t it still an outhouse? And did anybody ask the Union Jack its opinion about being draped all over that illegible monstrosity of a logo? I say!

Thanks for reading.

  1. Looks like somebody crumped up the Olympic brochure and then took a picture of it.

  2. …and got paid a lot of money for it too!

The ONLY hope I hold out for that logo is that when NBC or the BBC let their 3D graphic animators get their mits on that logo that they can somehow make it cool in a way the current form certainly isn’t.

In my opinion, Britain deserves better and so does the Union Jack.

As always, thanks for stopping by; you’re both always welcome here!

    Best always,
