movember – day 21

Yup, it already needed to be trimmed a bit.

The MO-VO team is up over $2,000 in donations for Men’s Cancer Research. Thanks to ALL the donors.

If you have only $5.00 to donate to this cause, I would be very thankful.

And if you can only offer a prayer to those men and their families who are dealing with the challenges of Cancer now or those families who will not enjoy Thanksgiving with the man in their life this year…that would certainly be equally appreciated.

voxy ladies celebrates female voice talent

As a long time supporter of and sometimes profiteer from female voice talent, I am pleased but not at all surprised at the creation of a brand new web site to celebrate female voice talent.

Voxy Ladies is the creation of my friend Lisa Biggs and her friend Jen Davis.

I’m looking forward to watching this site grow into something amazing. I hope you’ll follow their fun too.

the password is…

We all deal with passwords in our digital lives.

Some people have so many its hard to keep track of them.

But I found a list of the most recent “worst” passwords that truly blew my mind.

How people could believe themselves to be digitally protected using any of the passwords this list seems just….unreal!

How about:

1. password

2. 123456

3. 12345678

4. qwerty

5. abc123

OY! ‘Password’ as a password?! Really?!

And there are about 20 more of these doozies on the list. Yikes.

A few years ago I met Christopher S. Penn at a Podcamp and I follow his blog because he writes smart stuff sometimes (which is about 100 times more than I write smart stuff).

His article about passwords I thought had some really smart ideas including:

“Change your passwords now, and change them in such a way that no one password works for everything. At a bare minimum, add a word for password groups so that password sets can be remembered but are different from major network to network.
For example, if the password you want to use is CheeseBurgers!, then create CheeseBurgers!Banking as a password for financial services, CheeseBurgers!Social for networks like Facebook and Twitter, CheeseBurgers!Email for mail services, etc. You’ll still mentally have “one” password but it won’t work for everything. (the added length is also a minor increase to security since longer passwords are harder to guess) If another Gawker media incident happens where millions of passwords and email addresses are stolen, perhaps only your CheeseBurgers!Blogging password will need to be changed.”

How you handle your passwords is your business but it’s important that you NOT take them for granted. The harder you make them, the easier it will be to protect your stuff.

I hope all this helps.

movember – day 14

My thought as I think about this picture is “I think men grow hair faster as they get older”.

I don’t recall whiskers coming in this fast in the past, but I’ve never kept a whisker-growing diary like this before.

But beyond the facial hair is OVER $200.00 donated to my efforts! You people are insane and in the BEST possible way. Thank you VERY much for your generosity.

Thanks to (first names or initials only to protect the innocent 😉

If you’re reading this and can spare but $5.00 as a donation to help fund Men’s Cancer Research (you can donate less or more – whatever YOU are comfortable with) please click here.

And if funds are tight right now (and I fully understand, please do NOT feel bad) just take a moment and offer a prayer of support and healing for those men and their families suffering through their cancer.

I really think sometimes those prayers are worth more than any dollar amount.

I know it’s not polite to shout but THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

movember – day 11

See, this picture is what happens when I get artsy fartsy in Picasa.

Maybe black and white pictures make my facial hair look less black and white….or maybe not.

All I ask is, if you can, offer a $5.00 donation to support Men’s Cancer Research by clicking here.

I’ve raised $165 with your kind support. If I could get to $200.00 for the cause by December 1st, that would be great.

And thank you.

the city, the mixer, the o’c – this december!

There is probably only one thing that could draw me into New York City during the insane Christmas holiday season – the 2011 New York City Voice Over Mixer presented by my agents at Voice Talent Productions.

The flight is booked.

The room is reserved.

And the agenda is being crafted as we speak…oh yes, there’s work to be done.

I hope to see you Saturday, December 3rd or sometime in between Friday and Sunday.

You know how to reach me….you just, ya know, never call (sniff).
