Yes, I Voice National Spots — But I Love Local Commercials Too

Next Plumbing Commercial voiced by Peter K. O'Connell

When people hear I’ve done commercial voice over work for national brands like Duracell, Lowe’s Home Improvement, L.L.Bean, and Crest Toothpaste (among others), they often assume that’s all I do. And hey, I get it—big brands, big reach.

But here’s the thing: I genuinely love lending my voice to local commercials and regional commercials just as much. There’s something deeply rewarding about working with a local business and helping them sound like a national brand—without the national brand budget (but make no mistake, keep the national brand paychecks coming, national brands!) 🙂

A great local commercial example?

A recent TV commercial voice over project I voiced for Next Plumbing, a homegrown company in Lafayette, Louisiana. (You can watch the ad below—it turned out beautifully.)

The production team delivered top-tier visuals, so they wanted a voice over artist who could match that level of quality: warm, confident, and relatable without sounding too “salesy.” As a full-time professional voice actor, I brought the same polish and tone that I use for national campaigns, but with a local sensibility that helped the TV spot really shine.

Whether it’s a regional spot for Ford, Maaco, or even the Cleveland Browns, I approach every job—big or small—with the same attention to the voiceover performance detail. I treat every English language spot or narration the same.

As an experienced voice over talent, I know how to bring a message to life in a way that resonates with audiences. From radio voice over to marketing narrations and explainer videos, from YouTube ads to online promos, I offer dependable, high-quality voice over services that help brands connect with their audience. Business size doesn’t matter.

So if you’re in voice casting mode for your next local, regional, or national campaign, I’d love to help. Your project deserves a great voice—and I’d be honored if it were mine.

Jenny Bosby may not manage the day to day at Pastorini-Bosby any more (Cindi Andress is the awesome managing agent today) but it was great to visit with her in 2008 when I signed with them.

She was very nice (not all agents are) and seemed genuinely interested in her talent (again…not all agents are).

Today, Cindi and her team continue to be just as nice and very responsive to both their talent and their clients.

I’m really pleased to be with PB Talent going on 17 years now.

ABOUT PASTORINI-BOSBY TALENT

In the fall of 1990, Pastorini-Bosby Talent was born.

The agency roster is comprised of Film, Television, Commercial and Corporate actors and spokespersons; Child actors; Radio and TV voice actors; Narrators, Trade Show and Convention Hosts & Hostesses; Print Models and Media Personalities. With a over 50 years of experience in the entertainment industry, the PB Staff is able to assist you with all of your talent needs. We represent a diverse group of acting professionals with a wide range of skills, abilities and ethnicities.

We are licensed by the state of Texas and franchised by AFTRA and SAG, and to accommodate Texas’ Right To Work environment we represent union and non-union actors.

Because we know that time is money and in the entertainment industry (almost) anything has to be produced yesterday, we can turn your voice overs and on camera auditions around very quickly using our state of the art digital audio and video facilities.

Voiceover Talents have Capital Expenditure Budgets too

A voiceover business like mine, audio’connell Voiceover Talent, is like every other small business out there.

In addition to paying ourselves, we have to pay for operational stuff like web hosting, marketing as well as audio, computer and internet technology. In essence, we too have to reinvest in our companies to stay competitive.

Some of those more expensive items are often referred to as a capital expenditure, or CapEx.

One quick example might be when a voiceover talent buys a new sound booth, like my Studiobricks or a WhisperRoom. Those can be a lot more expensive than just buying a new microphone (unless you’re buying 2 or 3 Neumann U-87s – that’s an inside joke for the voice actors out there).

Well, up until this point of 2025, I did NOT have a major CapEx purchase on the books.

But as you are about to see…that all changed this past weekend.

Voice Actor Peter K. O’Connell is represented by Moxie Talent, which serves voiceover clients in Kansas and Missouri from their Kansas City< MO headquarters

It’s now been eleven years since I signed on to have Moxie Talent be my agent in Kansas City (both states).

My friend Dan Hurst had told me about the (at the time) new talent agency that Stacey Siegert had founded, when we were at dinner with some other KC based voiceover friends.

Not being one to waste time, next day, before I headed to the airport, I stopped by the Moxie Talent offices.

Stacey was (is) super cool, we talked a bit about my work, her agent history and by the next day the deal was done.

She’s grown Moxie significantly over the past eleven years but it is still the place to find great models, on-screen talent and voice actors in Kansas and Missouri.

ABOUT MOXIE TALENT

Moxie Talent Agency is a Kansas City-based theatrical booking agency representing actors, models, voiceover artists and hand models.

We specialize in the search, screening, and placement of actors and models for in-state as well as out-of-state bookings. We represent talent in the entertainment industry in genres including film, television, radio, commercials, voiceovers, website, social media and commercial print modeling.

Peter K. O’Connell’s Voiceover Agent – Heyman Talent

I’ve never asked Lynne Heyman if she regretted taking my call back in 2006

I’m glad she did.

I reached out to Lynne back then about voiceover representation and we hit it off immediately. She clearly was very focused and protective of her talent (voice actors, models, on-screen actors, even stylists) and only wanted the best for them.

19 years later, I’m still with Heyman but Laura VonHolle has -for a while now – been successfully running the show for Heyman. The agency has an office not only in Cincinnati (“Go Big Red Machine!”) but also Columbus, Louisville and Indianapolis.

ABOUT HEYMAN TALENT

Heyman Talent Artists Agency features the Midwest’s premiere models, actors and voice over artists but also represent talent from coast to coast.

We are an SAG/AFTRA Franchised Agency, offering the finest in seasoned and new actors for commercial, films, tv and web series as well as industrials.

Unboxing the audio’connell Voiceover Talent Client Gift for 2025

Voice Actor Peter K. O'Connell unboxes his 2025 client giftsYou know I’m always late to trends – by years – but I’ve never considered having an unboxing or producing an unboxing video before.

But when I received my client gifts for 2025 – much faster than they were supposed to be shipped – the idea hit and I thought why not?

Like most of the videos that actually feature me (and I’ll apologize in advance for not being very good on camera – or more accurately – awkward on camera) these are silly, short vignettes that people seem to enjoy. Plus video is supposed to be good for small business (or as I call it, my microbusiness).

So video it is.

I hope you like the reveal (if you were expecting Rolex watches…you must think I charge L.A. prices…nope) I hope you’ll give me a call, give me some (VO) business and I’ll give you a gift.

And yes, for those of you who are northern border hockey fans, that IS a Hockey Night in Canada t-shirt. IYKYK.
