audio’connell in asheville, nc

Peter K. O'Connell, Melodie Fillman Friedman, Dan Friedman

OK, wow.

I promised voice talent, author and ProComm audio producer Dan Friedman at Faffcon 2 that should I get to Asheville, NC I would catch up with him. He, in turn, promised a tour of ProComm. I got the better of this deal.

OK, wow.

ProComm’s studios are stunningly impressive from the building’s outstanding acoustical construction to the technical brilliance of the layout and studio execution to the professionalism and friendliness of their staff (thank you Sheldon and Chris). It’s like a voice-over paradise.

You want bells? They got ’em. Whistles, they got ’em. ISDN? Holy cow do they have that!

Then I got to see Dan’s terrific and customized home studio which allows him to do some great voice work after he’s done at ProComm (Dan is the national voice of the Crowne Plaza hotel chain).

Then Dan and his wife Melodie were kind enough to take me to dinner in beautiful downtown Asheville where we ate a little and talked alot more. It was a great deal of fun and I am so glad I got to visit with both of them.

Dan will be at Faffcon 3 and he’s got some cool presentation plans ready…bring your notebook.

And if you haven’t yet subscribed to the ProComm blog that Dan helps write – well, y’all best get on that!

did you know there is a waiting list for faffcon?

faffcon_3_voiceover_unconference

You may know that the voiceover unconference, Faffcon 3, is sold out.

What you might NOT know is that there is a waiting list.

There are no guarantees but if you still think you MUST go (and you must) then you should sign up here.

i warned you

Faffcon3 is sold out

If I told you once, I told you a thousand times.

Now there’s a waiting list and if you missed the sign up, your only shot at Faffcon 3 is being on it.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I tried but sometimes you just won’t listen.

You’re stubborn that way like your father .

8 is great unless you’re late!

A lunch time email from Faffy – actually a “frantic Faffy-gram” because evidently dolphins are not only smarter than we assume, they are also more high-strung – advises that only 8 (eight – the number less than nine but more than seven) spots remain for Faffcon – the Voiceover Unconference on September 23-25 in Hershey, PA.

This third iteration of the event has been selling faster than ever before – no video promotion necessary.

Faffy also advised: “Wanna go but need some dough? If you, or a deserving VO pro you know, would benefit from coming to FaffCon, but would need financial assistance to make that happen, please check out the FaffCon Peer-to-Peer Scholarship. It was generously funded by FaffCon 2 participants after the Atlanta event.”

Hope to see you there.

i’m registered

And it’s over 50% full after just two weeks. (The question to ask is how the heck is Amy Snively the TWENTIETH registrant to her own conference?)

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

portland oregon voice talents are in for a treat

Mercedes Rose - Female Voiceover Talent

One of the people I had never met before going to Faffcon 2 was Mercedes Rose.

Smart, personable and fun-nah, I enjoyed getting to know about her professional acting skills in front of the camera and behind the mic.

It was, mind you, during Oscar weekend that I met her – the Oscars being her High Holy Day of the entire year. Like Glee on speed is how I would describe Mercedes’ excitement level for that show and all it represents to her personally and most especially professionally.

So this whirling dervish of voiceover excitement is teaming with Marc Cashman to present a weekend voiceover seminar in Portland on August 6 & 7, 2011. For more details or to reserve your spot, call 661-222-9300.
