bryan cox visits corner gas

cornergas_logo

My friend and fellow voice talent Bryan Cox also fancies himself an actor…which as long as you’re getting paid for it ain’t bragging ’cause it’s the truth!

He recently guested on the show “Corner Gas” as a customs officer – with a speaking part and everything! Check him out about four minutes into the show. Nice job Bryan!

a quote for voice actors, all actors, to remember

meryl_streep

As we jockey for jobs and as we audition ad infinitum; as feel lowly when presenting in the presence of “great performers” or as a “great performer” empties a room to allow for his or her sizable ego to enter, let us always remember that a great performance lies within each of us. To wit:

“Can I just say there is no such thing as the best actress, you know? There is no such thing as the `greatest living actress.’ I am in a position where I have secret information, that I know this to be true. I am so in awe of the work of the women this year – nominated, not nominated -so proud of us girls. And everybody wins when we get parts like this.”

-Meryl Streep, Actress, Screen Actors Guild Awards January 25, 2009

Athletes compete. Actors prefer not to work that hard, I think.

5. You may only vote once and you are on the honor system

6. Voting will end when I say it does, probably a couple of weeks I’m guessing

audio’connell in st. louis…again

John Postel, Peter O'Connell & Donna Postel

What a great treat it was to meet St. Louis based voice talent Donna Postel and her husband John tonight for dinner at the famous Blueberry Hill restaurant.

What a fabulous career in radio she had and now she enjoys a terrific voice over career.

And the best news of all is she’ll have her new web site up by April 15th of this year. Look for it!

faux-ditions for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon announcer will close Friday, January 9th at 5:00 p.m. ET

jimmy_fallon_late_night_nbc

1/9/09 UPDATE: The faux-ditions are now CLOSED!

All credit to Jim Feldman who coined the phrase “faux-dition”.

The unofficial Late Night With Jimmy Fallon announcer auditions will remain open for submissions until Friday, January 9, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. eastern U.S. time.

The judges will then hunker down in an undisclosed safe room (or cell) somewhere on Earth.

There, they will secretly agree who are the top 10 nominees either by consensus or best 3 out of 5 falls.

Their ballots will be burned to preserve the judges’ picks. When white smoke appears, the votes are unanimous and we’ll have our ten nominees.

When I announce the 10 nominees, you can cast your vote at that time in that post.

One vote per person on the honor system. My decision, like always, will be final.

For any voice talents who do not submit by the deadline, you are free to publicly call them “scaredy cat” or “chicken” afterwords when you see them in public.
