some buffalo horn tooting

The historic Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY

I know you might not think too much about Buffalo, NY because, well many of you do not live here.

And I know you remember we have/had a football team and we get snow (much like about 1/2 of the United States).

But we also have some amazing weather (from May through October), restaurants, architecture and more.

So if you’ll allow me to take about six minutes from your life, I’d like you to watch a little bit about my city in this video (a production I had nothing to do with). The National Preservation Conference is coming here in 2011 so they made a promotional video to promote attendance. Maybe this video will help you get a better sense of what my town is like.

Kudos to the Buffalo Convention and Visitors Bureau for their work on this project.

Thanks.

Announcer Charlie O'Donnell

For about 28 years, Charlie O’Donnell has been the voice (along with Jack Clark and M.G. Kelly) of the enormously popular game show Wheel of Fortune. This goes back to when the show was on NBC daytime and Chuck Woolery was the host (you mean their was a host before Pat Sajak?). He was still on the show at the time of his death.

He began his television career with Dick Clark on American Bandstand, and then served as announcer for shows like the Oscars, the Emmys and The Newlywed Game. I remember when I worked in radio, Charlie was the intro announcer (and I think fill in host sometimes) on Dick Clark’s Rock, Roll and Remember shows.

His voice for me was unmistakable and always welcome. God’s speed pal.

faffcon 2 video – uploaded from 36,000 feet

Here’s is the NEW Faffcon 2 promo video featuring the voice talents of Bruce Miles, Philip Banks, Peter K. O’Connell, Anthony Mendez, Bob Souer and Diane Maggipinto.

Look, this is geeky of me I’ll grant you, but I think it’s cool that I edited most of this video and then uploaded it on to You Tube from my airline seat flying at 36,000 feet. Oh by the way, this blog post is coming to you from that very same altitude and seat.

Fair warning, I will be at this Faffcon…I guess I can register from my seat too. I hope you will come…it’s gonna be big.

Please promote the heck outta this video. Thanks.

audio’connell at lambeau field

Voice Talents Peter K. O'Connell, Kelly Klemolin and Zach McLain

There’s a hint of winter in the air in Green Bay, WI (read near hurricane gusts) but that’s the perfect weather to experience the world famous Lambeau Field.

But Peter, you say, its the middle of the week and the Packers play at the Jets this weekend!

Yes, I respond, but a football mecca is always open and it proved the perfect spot for a voice over meet-up with old pal Kelly Klemolin and now new pal Zach McLain, a voice and theatre actor in his senior year of college.

What a fun night visiting with Kelly, who continues to work steadily because of her great talent and to learn about Zach who is as personable as he is talented.

All of this while dining at Curly’s inside Lambeau Field (named after Curly Lambeau). I din’t even get into the stadium proper but the re-do the city did in 2003 makes the public areas quite stunning! Now I wish I could get to a Packers game! Even in winter cause if you’re going to experience the “real” thing, you gotta go all out!

Thanks Kelly and Zach for coming out.
