  1. Congratulations to the winners (I won’t say who – you have to listen…). This is a great showcase of some great talent in the Voiceover industry.

Thank you Peter for letting us play.

    Frank F

  2. The Today announcers name that Bruce was trying to think of was Fred Facey who also did the Weekend Nightrly open. The current Today open announcer is Les Marshack “The Voice of Macy’s”
Fred also did Meet The Press. He died April 13th, 2003.

  3. Frank,

You and everyone are entirely welcome. Thanks for being my sounding board on the idea!

    Mike:

You are of course correct. The late Fred Facey was a terrific announcer for NBC and a great example of a voice that melded perfectly with their news broadcasts.

For those who need a quick reminder, here’s an example of Fred’s work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY00pGKPsuc

    Best always,
    – Peter

  4. Congrats to everyone. It was fun to hear you all….I wonder now if we all had a chance to do it over…what would it sound like now that we have all heard each other? Should we do it again? Nah…once is plenty. Thanks Peter.

  5. Great podcast, Peter. I was traveling over the holiday and missed your contest. It would have been fun to participate.

    Drew

  6. Greg:

That is an awsome question. I know for certain that performances would all be taken up a notch by the more “competitive” VO’s among us. That’s not a bad thing.

    Drew:

I’m sorry you missed it too but I hope you had an awesome holiday.

    Best always,
    – Peter

  7. Peter,

Indeed! Thanks for the note today – I’ve just finished listening to the podcast – congrats to a few people whom I won’t name here and now 🙂

    Cheers,

    Stephanie

  8. Peter!

  9. […] My friend, Peter K. O’Connell has posted the results of his search for a new NBC Nightly News voice.  He kept the voting open for some time.  Of course the whole thing was a blast.  Watching the votes come in.  Here’s the podcast from Peter! […]

  10. Great podcast – I would love to see the voice-off become annual (more than that could become a little stale). I thought it was great – and of course congratulations to you for hosting it.

  11. Steph-

My pleasure, thanks for your help in promoting the event!

    Liz-

They did all ROCK! Especialy the new-to-me voices that I so enjoyed.

    Lucas-

That’s an interesting idea, maybe we’ll try that. I hope you’ll participate if we do it!

    Best to all,
    – Peter
