audio’connell in Charlotte again

audio\'connell in Charlotte

My “friends” at US Airways lost my luggage making my trip a bit more inconvenient than it needed to be (although to be fair the ground staff at US Airways GSP- who had to deal with the outcome caused by the baggage dolts’ who did the losing of the bag – were nice, especially Chad). But the trip has otherwise been terrific including a nice dinner Wednesday in North Carolina with my friend and the man beloved by all voice talents Bob Souer, who brought along his very bright and charming son.

He and I plotted our individual world tour travels to personally meet every voice talent in the world, lull them into a state of complacency and then steal all their voice work. Bwahahahaha! (That, by the way, is the correct spelling for “evil laugh”).

Of course I’m kidding but he and I have been able to meet so many of our fellow VO’s over the past few years, we both feel very fortunate.

While we could have spoke for hours, Bob had some narrations to do and I had luggage to find but we’ll get together for a late lunch today before heading home. Another successful trip.

  1. Hey Peter,
I’m just up I-77 in Wilkes County. Come on by!

  2. LOVE those meet-ups!
And while YES, everyone loves Bob, we love YOU too, Peter!!! :-*

    Peace!

    Liz

  3. Lost baggage…if only we could chose the “baggage” we want to lose, it could be a plus!! Glad you time here has been good.

  4. First I miss the fall colors in Charlotte- then I miss a meal with Peter and Bob! Boy, this move has been harder than I could have ever imagined!!

Hah! Glad you had a great time, next time you need to head a little further south 🙂

    Kara

  5. Peter,
How excellent to hear about two of my favorite and talented guy v/o friends had a chance to meet and solve the world’s problems. Would’ve loved to join you, but heck I’m on the left coast!
Perhaps again, some day soon … 🙂

  6. @Jamee – absolutely, love to catch up with you, Look for my travel plans and lots of other VO’s travels on VO-BB.com. DB Cooper has created a welcoming home for ALL voice talents there and whether me, Bob or someone else travels, we usually announce it there. Meet ups add more joy to our great biz.

@Liz – I know you were surprised to learn that unlike in our (u and me) trip in NYC, Bob and I didn’t get thrown out of any place in Charlotte. Brian kept us on our best behavior. Otherwise you know what a hell-raiser that Bob is 😉

@Brian – the party won’t be a complete success unless you join us next time!

@Kara – You were on both our minds during dinner. We missed you most especially when the check came! 😉

@Bobbin – When I’m around Bob I like to shut up and listen (when I am around a lot of VO’s I try to do that). I learn more that way. And hey, I will be in SFO in December if you want to see me twice in one year (although I don’t know why you’d want to punish yourself.

Voice over was fun before the internet but the community that has developed on the web makes me appreciate the technology even more while cherishing the peers who are my friends.

Thank you to my commentators on this post and in this blog and also my valued readers. I am lucky to be able to share this ride and our gifts together.

    Best always,
    – Peter

  7. Peter,
Thanks for the info. Site is very cool. I’m just digging in…

  8. Really glad you had a good time on your trip, Peter (despite the lost luggage). I hope to meet Bob some day. And to see you again too!

  9. @Jamee- Great people there, some wonderful friendships and partnerships that can be developed. And a ton to learn…and not look stupid (which is usually my problem 😉

@Jodi- You really haven’t experienced a truly good person in life (save for folks in your own family) until you’ve met Bob. Kind and calm and a true gent, that fellow. As for me, I’m pretty much the opposite 🙂 Bob is still teaching me!

    Best always,
    – Peter

  10. 🙂 I look forward to meeting him even more then, Peter. You are so right that technology makes us cherish our peers even more. (And you’re pretty awesome yourself!)

    All the best, — Jodi

  11. Thanks Jodi. You’re very kind.

    Best always,
    -Peter
