Congratulations to the Ottawa Senators who today won the NHL Eastern Conference versus the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres were simply outplayed and outclassed at just about every position.

While my prediction for the series fell well short, I was heartened by the kind comment from Stephanie Ciccarelli of Voices.com:

but I told you so.

Funny part of this was, Mrs. audio’connell and me were in New York City on Sunday of (what would become) the final game of the Rangers-Sabres series and we walked over to the Garden to see if tickets were available…$300/pair seemed like money would could spend in the city elsewhere.

We did watch the game with my sister-in-law (who was gleefully rooting for the Sabres) at whose apartment we were staying; I didn’t dance too much as to ensure we’d have a place to stay for the entire trip.

Yeah, the new Buffalo Sabres mullet logo sucks. I miss my original blue and gold logo but I have to shut up about it and just wear my New Era hat with the old logo because:

a. The Sabres earned the most NHL points this season
b. The Sabres are #1 in merchandise sales in the entire NHL
c. Baby, it’s playoff time!

Go Sabres!

P.S. I hereby publicly promise that when the Sabres win the Stanley Cup, I will wear a New Era cap with the mullet as “penance for my blasphemy” against the mullet!
